Annual Research Expo

The ISF Fall Research Expo is an annual event hosted by Purdue’s Institute for a Sustainable Future (ISF). This interdisciplinary research expo celebrates and highlights sustainability-focused research taking place across campus, providing an open forum for students, post-doctoral researchers, faculty and staff to share their work and engage with others interested in sustainability.

About the event

Each fall, the ISF Fall Research Expo brings together members of the Purdue research community to present posters on a wide range of sustainability topics that align broadly with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Participants showcase research related to areas such as environmental resilience, renewable energy, water security, food systems, materials and circular economy, environmental justice, and other domains of sustainable development.

This event fosters interdisciplinary connection and collaboration by creating a welcoming space for dialogue between researchers at all career stages — undergraduate and graduate students, post-doctoral researchers, and faculty. Attendees are encouraged to explore innovative work, exchange ideas, and build community around sustainability research at Purdue.

What to expect

Poster Presentations: A broad range of sustainability research presented by students and faculty from diverse academic disciplines.
Networking Opportunities: Meet fellow researchers, faculty mentors, and sustainability advocates from across the Purdue community.
Refreshments & Community Engagement: Light refreshments and an informal setting to connect and discuss research ideas.
Annual Timing & Location: This year’s ISF Fall Research Expo will be held on Wednesday, October 21, 2026 in the Purdue Memorial Union South Ballroom from 1-4 PM. Please check back soon for registration!

Who Can Participate

The Expo is open to all Purdue researchers from undergraduates to faculty! Those with ISF research support (DUIRI students, travel or research grant recipients, or other forms of ISF support) are expected to present their research poster related to ISF funding. This event is a highlight of the ISF fall calendar as participation is not limited to ISF areas of research, funding, or programming. Each year, multiple poster presenters span the range of all research areas Purdue has to offer. In 2025, this Expo welcomed over 200 attendees and 70 presenters.
